Take your celebration to the greater DR by arriving early and/or staying late to reconnect with your region or program. This is a great opportunity to observe continuing development work, reconnect with Dominican friends and colleagues, and see changes, often dramatic, in the community and countryside.

  • RECORDING YOUR HISTORY: Your opportunity for oral recording, digitizing photos & documents available with help from the current Peace Corps volunteers

Working Lunch Together: Remembering Our Time Here

Bring your lunch to workshop for your program sector hosted and facilitated by Past & Present Peace Corps staff and APCDs – organized by program sectors based on pre-registration interest…especially remembering those Dominican partners in our communities and agencies that made our service productive

Afternoon: Social Time and Optional Activities

• PCVs & THE REVOLUTION OF 1965 - panel featuring former PC medical officer, and volunteers who lived through it

FREE TIME to visit Colonial Zone, ride new Metro subway, go shopping, pool swim & relax and catch up with friends

* EAST - La Romana, Bayahibe Beach & artisan tour, walking/cave tour and snorkel tour post 2 or 3 nights
* SIERRA DE BAHORUCO - Birding with Kate Wallace 2 nights (post)

* SAMANA AND LAS GALERAS - Sustainable fishing project plus whale watching (2 nights pre, 2-3 nights post)

VISIT TO CUBA
Special Opportunity for RPCVs to Legally Travel to Cuba
Seven Nights, February 12th to 19th

A licensed tour taking advantage of the experience of the Lexington Institute in special interest people-to-people travel to Cuba from Santo Domingo. The tour will follow the Celebration, leaving Sunday, February 12, and returning to Santo Domingo on Sunday, February 19.
