You can have confidence that the Program Support Fund is money well spent and is managed in close partnership with Peace Corps DR.
The PSF is intended to operate on a simple basis in recognition that time is of the essence for the volunteers. Both the request process, the award/decision making process, and the reporting process are straight forward.
- The PSF Chair and the Executive Committee of the Board of Friends manages this Fund.
- Periodically, Peace Corps DR assembles and submits a “Needs List” to Friends.
- The Country Director works with Staff Program Managers and Volunteer Leaders to come up with a prioritized list, by sector, of resources needed to improve or facilitate Volunteers’ abilities to do their jobs in the best way possible.
- The five members of the FDR Executive Committee review the requests and, based on the recommendation of the PSF Chair and available funding, approve as many requests as possible.
- In order to evaluate and prioritize, the Committee may conference with the appropriate PCDR staff or volunteer leader about the list or specific requests.
- The Executive Committee has authority to approve requests up to $500.
- Requests above $500 or those which are unusual (such as funding trainee history tours of the Colonial Zone) are forwarded to the full board for consideration.
- Once approved,
- PCDR will designate a Volunteer or Program Manager to be responsible for communicating with FDR about the grant.
- FDR either purchases directly and ships, or, transmits a check for purchase in the DR.
- For accountability, FDR requires
- Photographs of the items provided or purchased, ideally showing Volunteers using the items along with Dominican beneficiaries.
- A written report, including testimonials as appropriate, about how the donation benefited the program sector and the work of the Volunteers in the sector or sectors.
